Is sleeping with your partner becoming a struggle because of his or her chronic snoring? Do you find yourself up late at night searching the internet looking for at-home solutions to your partner’s snoring; or, has your loved one come to you complaining of sleepless nights because your snores are keeping them awake? Snoring can become a bigger problem in daily life, affecting your relationship, the quality of your sleep and your health. NY oral Surgeon, Dr. Mark Stein, at New York Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery has the solution for you.
The Pillar® Procedure in NYC can help to treat snoring in NY and relieve suffering from obstructive sleep apnea. The procedure can be performed at New York Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery by NY oral surgeon, Dr.Stein in less than a half hour, and it’s minimally invasive, only placing a minimum of three implants into the soft palate. Over time, the body will respond to the implants and add support to stiffen the area that vibrates and causes snoring. The implants also help reduce the issue of collapsing tissue that obstructs the upper airway causing sleep apnea in NY. The procedure is an easy, out-patient procedure with minimal pain during or after.
After the procedure, you can expect very little discomfort. Some patients use over-the-counter medications and other patients need no pain relief at all. The implants are not visible, they cannot be felt, and they will not impair speech or swallowing. Patients can resume normal eating habits and activities the same day after the Pillar® Procedure in NYC.
After the Pillar® Procedure, patients note a significant decrease in snoring intensity. The reduction in snoring leads to a more satisfying sleep for bed partner as well as the patients. Sufferers of sleep apnea noticed a permanent reduction in their hypopnea index after the procedure, leading to a more restful night’s sleep.
Enjoy a better night’s rest, and take control of your health with the Pillar Procedure! Dr. Stein and our staff at New York Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Center welcome any questions you may have about snoring and the Pillar Procedure in NYC. The beginning of summer means the end of school. As the breaking of the beach waves and the outdoor celebrations replace school bells and books, your child celebrates more free time! Why not put some of the free time to use and schedule your child’s appointment for a wisdom tooth consultation? Removing wisdom teeth in NYC before they cause problems is a proactive approach to dental health.
The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) recommends 17-25 year olds have their third molars evaluated by an oral surgeon in New York to decide if surgery is needed. While an impacted wisdom tooth may not be causing pain, it creates a risk to cause problems.
In fact, wisdom teeth, also known as the third molars are hard to reach for maintenance because they are so far back in your mouth. They are prone to infection because the third molars are more likely to have trapped food particles, plaque, and debris that can cause tooth decay.
Deciding not to have your wisdom teeth removed can also shift the alignment of the rest of your teeth, changing your smile and possibly causing the need for other dental work from causing damage to neighboring teeth. Wisdom tooth extraction in New York City is often the easier solution for long term health.
According to the AAOMS, eighty percent of young adult subjects who retained previously healthy wisdom teeth had developed problems within seven years. The cost of maintaining retained wisdom teeth over a lifetime can be more than the cost of wisdom tooth extraction in NY. Keeping wisdom teeth can also increase the risk for broader conditions, including cardiovascular disease.
Wisdom tooth extraction in New York at a younger age is a less invasive/complex procedure. Healing is faster as a younger individual and problems from impacted wisdom teeth including infection, cysts, gum disease, bone loss, decay, and swelling don’t have time to develop.
If you take the “wait and see” approach with your wisdom teeth, you may be borrowing trouble. Besides the extra time spent getting regular checkups on the progression of your wisdom teeth in NYC, surgery in older patients can have a longer recovery time and more complications.
Use your wisdom and call Dr. Mark Stein at New York Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery to schedule a consult and decide what your best choice is for wisdom tooth removal. Call 212-888-4760 or schedule an appointment online today!

Tired of going each summer missing teeth and unable to get implants because your upper jaw doesn’t have enough bone? Are you struggling with missing teeth? Do you miss out on your favorite foods or have to hide your smile because of embarrassment? Have you been told in the past your sinus membrane is too close to the upper jaw for implants? Don’t let your missing teeth hold you back any longer. Sinus lift Surgery in NYC is your solution. At New York Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Stein can perform a sinus lift to create an anchor for the future implants. He can also move your sinus membrane upward to create enough space.
When a tooth is missing in the mouth, the teeth around it can collapse. Unfortunately, the missing tooth can cause a loss in jawbone density. Jawbone deterioration can also occur with periodontal disease, the bacteria eats away at the tissue and eventually damages the jaw bone. Misalignments of the jaw can cause a loss as well.
A sinus lift in New York is performed with a small incision to the jawbone, giving access to lift the sinus membrane on the other side of the window. Dr. Stein uses a bone graft to create the anchor. After about 6 to 9 months, the patient can receive a dental implant in NY with sufficient jaw bone density. The long wait gives time for growth and for strength to be gained. Increased strength, decreases the chances of dental implants in NY needing to be replaced.
Dr. Mark Stein, NY oral surgeon, is one of the few oral surgeons in the country to use INFUSE®, an advanced new jawbone grafting material that uses a special protein to promote jawbone growth. The INFUSE® system prevents the need to harvest bone from another location in the body. With the elimination of this step, the patient is exposed to less anesthesia. The complications of the sinus lift surgery are also decreased because one less incision is being made (no bone removal). Dr. Stein may also use the patient’s own blood to assist healing.
It’ll be worth the wait for your dental implants. They will look natural, be a permanent solution, and they’ll prevent jawbone erosion. At New York Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Stein and his staff look forward to meeting all your sinus lift surgery needs.

Let your smile shine through the rainy days of spring with dental implants in NY! Sprout new life into your smile and talk to oral surgeon, Dr. Mark Stein about the more permanent solution to tooth loss today!
Loss of teeth can occur from a variety of reasons, including trauma, injury, age, and poor dental hygiene. As a result, many patients turn to dentures and removal bridges. However, patients seeking a more permanent, natural looking way to replace missing teeth should consider dental implants in New York. Unlike traditional methods of short-term smile restoration, dental implants provide a lifetime of strong, stable teeth that function and look like your natural pearly whites! So, what exactly are dental implants, and why have they become favorable over the years among both patients and dentists?
Dental implants are small titanium screws that are placed in the jawbone where teeth are missing. These screws provide a secure foundation for artificial teeth and more importantly, prevent jawbone deterioration. In fact, one of the reasons dental implants have grown so popular over the years is because they possess many benefits other forms of restoration lack. These benefits include:
-
Preserved facial structure
-
Prevention of jawbone deterioration
-
Permanent restoration
-
Natural looking
-
Continuance of enjoying virtually any food
-
Maintained confidence in your smile
-
Prevention of gum erosion
-
Preservation of adjoining, healthy teeth
While many patients find they are candidates of dental implants in NY, some individuals may be told they do not qualify due to insufficient jawbone density. At New York Oral & Maxillofacial Center, Dr. Stein goes beyond to help patients qualify for their permanent smile restoration, offering jawbone restoration in NYC. If you desire dental implants, but were told you do not qualify, talk to Dr. Stein about the Infuse Jaw Bone Graft. Learn more about jawbone grafting for dental implants in NY!
