Advances in Bone Grafting: Using INFUSE®!

Bone grafting can help treat various dental health problems, such as providing strength, stability, and density to anchor implants and replace bone mass, no matter the cause. For example, many patients who have lost teeth and need dental implants undergo bone grafting to ensure that their bone is strong enough to support new teeth. In addition, patients with jawbone deficiencies lose bone mass over time and look to bone grafting as a way to replace this missing mass. Some patients suffer trauma to the jaw, as well as infection and disease—both of which can adversely affect bone structure—requiring new bone to fill voids left by these unforeseen circumstances.

INFUSE® is a special protein that stimulates your own body to make bone tissue! This protein is often used for bone grafting in large areas—usually spanning 2 or more teeth. First, our New York oral surgeon will combine a synthetically-made bone with cadaver tissue to create a special bone graft. This graft will then be added to the  INFUSE® protein to create a completely unique piece of bone.

When grafted to your jaw, INFUSE® will stimulate your bone to create tissue, so you can naturally grow bone mass and increase bone density!
