TADS - Temporary Anchorage Devices
TADs, or temporary anchorage devices, provide a new way to move teeth into the proper position without having to use uncomfortable and embarrassing headgear. By inserting small screws within the mouth to act as anchors for braces and wires, Dr. Stein and Dr. Koslovsky use TADs to achieve more precise tooth movement with far less inconvenience and discomfort. Call our NYC oral surgeons today to find out if you are a good candidate for temporary anchorage devices.
What are TADs?
Temporary anchorage devices (TADs) are small screws that are temporarily fixed to bone within the jaw or roof of the mouth in order to provide orthodontic anchorage so that misaligned teeth may be moved into better position. TADs can replace the need for bulky, uncomfortable, and embarrassing headgear.
What are the advantages of TADs?
For today’s orthodontic patient, TADs provide a welcome alternative to orthodontic headgear. The advantages include:
- TADs are more comfortable.
- TADs are more convenient.
- TADs can provide more predictable and precise results.
- TADs may require shorter treatment time.
- TADs eliminate the need for embarrassing headgear.
How are TADs placed?
Dr. Stein and Dr. Koslovsky will work closely with your orthodontist to ensure the proper placement of TADs to work with your customized orthodontic plan. The TAD procedure is minimally invasive and can usually be done right in our NYC offices using only a topical anesthetic. Since there are no nerve endings in bone tissue, there’s little or no discomfort for patients.
How do I get started with TADs?
Dr. Stein, Dr. Koslovsky, and our staff would be happy to discuss TADs with you. Please call 212-888-4760 or schedule an appointment online to arrange for a private consultation at our office.
